About the artist

Michelle Bucholtz

Michelle is a Métis artist and facilitator based in Langley, BC. She believes creativity can be a pathway to connection, reflection and healing, and she puts the process ahead of the finished product.

Her dot art is rooted in Métis beadwork and in her ongoing learning about her culture, and shaped by what she has learned about art as a way to care for ourselves and each other.

The spirit dot

A deliberate imperfection

In Indigenous beadwork, the spirit bead is a deliberately placed flaw. It teaches humility and reminds us that beauty exists with imperfections. The red dot in the SpiritDot Designs mark carries that teaching.

Every kit and every painting invites the same practice: slow down, make a mark, and let it be.
